Mission & Scope
Junior Achievement of Georgia inspires and prepares
young people to succeed in a global economy.
Using hands-on experiences, JA brings the real
world to students, opening their minds to their full
potential by bridging the business and education
communities. JA programs teach children about
today’s economy, develop character skills, and
reinforce the value of staying in school. Founded
locally in 1943, JA of Georgia currently has offices
in Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Dalton, Gainesville,
Lake Oconee and Savannah. JA aims to impact
108,000 students across
Georgia this year.
JA Programs
Junior Achievement of Georgia’s vision is that
students of JA will be prepared leaders, effectively
competing in the global economy, and ultimately driving the economic success of Georgia.
We believe that this will require multiple learning
experiences for students in the areas of personal
financial literacy, entrepreneurship and
entrepreneurial thinking, and global business
perspectives. Using business or community
volunteers, JA brings award-winning economic
programs to K-12 students in classroom, after
school, and corporate settings. JA programs,
which are sequential in design, align to both state
and national education standards.
JA Volunteers
The number one responsibility of a JA volunteer is
to be a role model for students, teaching them
economic concepts to prepare for personal and
professional success. Volunteers are encouraged to
interweave their business experiences into the
lessons, which help the students connect theory to reality. JA volunteers, whether hosting students for
JA Job Shadow or teaching in the classroom, are
trained and equipped with all of the
JA program
materials and tools they will
need to be successful.
